Great start of the season for AXO at the famous Oval Lingotto in Turin, location of the opening round of the Supermoto World Championship: the AXO riders, hungry for success, clinched astonishing results at the GP of Italy both in S1 and in S2, thanks to KTM flagship riders Bernd Hiemer and Attilio Pignotti, aboard their powerful factory KTM, prepared by Italian-based Team Miglio.

Hiemer, who has been working hard in the pre-season to find the best set up for his KTM SMR 450, surprised the many fans at the Lingotto by posting the second fastest lap in Saturday’s Qualifying and by improving it with a storming lap in the Superpole, which meant the German started from the first place at the grid of Sunday’s races. Hiemer produced then a strong performance in Race 1, which he won apparently with no difficulties putting together a series of very fast laps. Unfortunately, in the final round the German had to give it up to Aprilia rider Vand den Bosch, on a circuit that doesn’t lend itself to easy overtaking and clinched the runner up position, which meant the second step of the podium of the GP, even if with he collected the same points as the winner.

Great result for AXO in S2, too, where Attilio “Attila” Pignotti gave his best by riding his KTM to third in the overall, by conquering the third and the fourth spot in Sunday’s races. The likeable Italian is still struggling with pain in his left shoulder, as he underwent a surgery in the off-season and couldn’t start his preparation as soon as he had planned.

Unlucky week end for reigning World Champion Gerald Delepine, who has been struggling all week end long in finding the correct set up for his new Husqvarna and hit the dirt in the final round receiving a strong blow in his chest while trying to recover from a bad start.

Last but not least: AXO rider Massimo Bianconcini gave the crowd at the Lingotto a good reason to scream and shout, while performing astonishing jumps and figures in the free style contest, among which a perfectly performed Back Flip!
