SBK Misano: Nieto, Laconi and Sanchini in temporary Superpole
Good start for Kawasaki Psg-1 Corse team on Santamonica circuit in Misano. It’s an important appointment for the team considering that this is the “home” round. This first day brought good results with all the three riders entering the temporary Superpole. The best one was Fonsi Nieto who made the sixth time followed by Regis Laconi with the ninth time and the fourteenth time was made by Mauro Sanchini. The three riders concentrated most of all on the round setting up and the team is quite optimist for the week end in therms of competitivity. FONSI NIETO: The result is not so bad but the thing I’m very glad for is that we have a really fast race pace. In the afternoon session we improved a lot but we have to consider that the other teams improved too and it will be a difficult race thie Sunday ‘cause all we riders are really near to eachother. In the middle of the chrono session I decided to change the bike taking the one I’ve the best feeling with and it work. We decided to use the same tyre of the morning to sparing the soft one for the qualification”. REGIS LACONI: Unfortunately we continue to have the same problem we had during all the season: we are not able to use in the best way the most performing tyre we have because with that tyre the bike suffers chattering. We have to work a lot and hard because with this kind of asphalt so “waved” it’s complicated to make a good time and the risk is to start in a back row on Sunday and in that case to overtake is even more complicated. Anyway I’m optimist because the team is working hard and I think to be competitive tomorrow”. MAURO SANCHINI: “ I’m glad ‘cause we first of all worked looking forward to the round. At the beginning I had some difficulties on this kind of circuit but step by step I got used to it and I found a good race pace making a satisfying time that made me accede to the temporary Superpole. This is mine goal for tomorrow and I’ll dedicate it to all Sankio’s friends”. Times: 1. T. Bayliss (Ducati) 1’36.479; 2. T. Corser (Yamaha) 1’36.524; 3. Y. Kagayama (Suzuki) 1’36.803; 4. R. Xaus (Ducati) 1’36.879; 5. N. Haga (Yamaha) 1’37.453; 5. F. Nieto (Team Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse) 1’37.512; 9. R. Laconi (Team Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse) 1’37.645; 14. M. Sanchini (Team Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse) 1’38.546. |
