Two difficult races today for team Pedercini Superbike riders Luca Scassa and David Salom. After morning heavy rain, the first race of the Superbike World Championship started on a wet Misano World Circuit. Both riders started from the sixth row. A very nice race for Scassa who was able to reach the eleventh place. Near to the middle of the race the rain stopped and the track became dry.

Scassa decided to change the tyres from wets to slicks but unfortunately the front tyre of Luca’s second bike was again a rain tyre and after only few laps he was forced to re-enter the box and to end his race prematurely. Salom struggled in race one with some set up problems on his Kawasaki and for this reason he obtained the twenty third place only. In race two due to some set up problems on his   bike’s front wheel, Scassa obtained the twentieth place while Salom was forced to end his race because of some technical problems.

Superbike race 1 : Spies (Yamaha) – 2 Byrne (Ducati) - 3 Fabrizio (Ducati) - 4 Smrz (Ducati) – 5 Haga (Ducati) ….. 23 Salom (Kawasaki) - RET Scassa (Kawasaki).

Superbike race 2 : 1 Rea (Honda) - 2 Fabrizio (Ducati) – 3 Haga (Ducati) – 4 Smrz (Ducati) – 5 Checa (Honda)……..20 Scassa (Kawasaki) - RET Salom (Kawasaki)

David Salom : “Today it was my first Superbike wet race. Unfortunately in race one I suffered a lot of problems with my front tyre and it was really difficult for me to end the race also if I re-entered the box to change my bike when the track became dry. In race two after a very good start we had some technical problems and near to the end of the race I was forced to stop my race. This technical problem prevented me from getting a good position and some points for my championship standing, but I hope to be more lucky in my next race in Donington”.

Luca Scassa :”In race one, on a wet track, my start was very quick and   I was able to recover a lot of positions. Near to the middle of the race I was able to reach an amazing eleventh place and only when the track became dry I decided to re-enter the box to change the bike and to use the second one. Unfortunately my team decide to use a rain front tyre also on my second bike and on completely dry truck it was really impossible for me to end the race in that conditions. Also race two was very difficult for me because of a lot of problems on my front wheel. I wasn’t able to ride my bike as I would have liked and I couldn’t really chase the riders in front of me. Now we are going to Donington that will be a completely new circuit for me, but in any case I hope to reach better results in England”.
