Goodwood Celebrates the Fast-Paced and Highly Competitive British Superbike Championship

Over the weekend of the 11 – 13 July, the Goodwood Festival of Speed will celebrate the UK’s role in providing a high-profile, competitive environment for the world’s top manufacturers and star riders by commemorating the success of the most competitive domestic motorcycle racing series in the world, the British Superbike Championship.

Goodwood aims to gather together one of the largest collections of significant machinery and famous riders from the renowned championship that has ever been seen.  Expect to see great champions such as Terry Rymer on his 1990 championship winning Loctite Yamaha OW01, Jamie Whitham riding Niall Mackenzie’s 1998 championship winning Cadbury’s Boost Yamaha YZF750 and John Reynolds on his 2004 championship winning Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Also on show will be a selection of iconic bikes such as the INS Ducati 996R that Troy Bayliss used to win the 1999 championship before moving on to WSB, the famous No2 Suzuki GSX-R750 ridden in the 2000 season by Chris Walker in the most tightly contested championship battle in BSB history, the beautiful Reve Red Bull Ducati 996R the John Reynolds rode to championship victory in 2001 and Steve Hislop’s Monstermob Ducati 996R on which he won the championship the following year.

Heroes of the modern day and 2008 title contenders will also be present.  Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow will ride the HM Plant Honda CBR1000RR, Tom Sykes will be on board his Rizla Suzuki GSX-R1000, Michael Rutter will be putting his Northwest 200 Ducati 1098R through its paces and Stuart Easton will be wringing the neck of his MSS Discovery Kawasaki ZX10R on the famous hillclimb.

As well as a focus on the British Superbike Championship, the Festival will also feature a variety of famous riders and mouth-watering machines from the world of motorcycling.

It really is one not to be missed!
