Superpole winner Fonsi Nieto (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) and second fastest qualifier Regis Laconi (PSG-1 Kawasaki Corse Ninja ZX-10R) each started from enviable positions in Germany, and scored good points in each 24-lap race, which were held in mercifully dry conditions.

In race one Laconi was highest finisher for the team, in sixth place, just one up on Nieto. The race was won by Noriyuki Haga, by 11 seconds from Max Biaggi.

In the second race, Nieto stuck to his task well and finished eighth, while Laconi was 11th. Bayliss won the second contest, from Haga.

Their points from Lausitz mean that Laconi moves up to 11th in the rankings, having also made a breakthrough in his suspension settings this weekend. Nieto is 13th overall, unchanged from the start of the Lausitz race.

Regis Laconi: “Considering this morning’s warm up I thought things might not be so great. We had the same chattering as always but thanks to Öhlins’ support we made some modifications and things really changed. The bike became easier to manage and I kept a good race pace. It’s a pity that I made not such a good start to race one, and I lost some places, so maybe it could even have been a fourth position. Then I began to gain positions and I found a good race pace until the end.”

Fonsi Nieto: “It feels like a difficult week end despite my first pole position in SBK. Reaching seventh and the eighth after starting in front of all the others is not what I wanted but I had some electrical problems in race one which made me lose four positions on the straight in just a single lap. I still got good results. We solved these problems for race two but the bike was quite difficult to manage and that tired me out. For the overall team, the weekend has been positive one, especially with Regis’ results also being good.”
