Stefan Nebel (Lightspeed Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) scored a point in his first ever WSS race for the team at his home circuit of Eurospeedway Lausitz.
After starting from 26th place on the grid, after second qualifying was disrupted by rain, he overcame a less than perfect start and soon made up ground on his opponents. Even when his rear tyre started to slide, he was able to continue at a high pace to the end of the 23 laps.
Nebel is in line to race in the last two rounds of the year, at Vallelunga and Magny-Cours.
Stefan Nebel: “That was really good fun, and quite hard work as well! I didn’t get such a great start, even though my practice starts were good, because we put a new clutch in for the race and the adjustment was not the same. But afterwards I found a good rhythm, even though I only had one hour in the dry with this bike. I needed to learn a lot in the first couple of laps. After ten or 11 laps I saw a lot of guys were having problems with their tyre, and our bike was set-up well for older tyres - so I could still push very hard at the end. With a little bit more 'Superbike' riding style near the end it was all OK. To get a point was good first time out and I am looking forward to riding the machine again.”
