Fabien Foret (Gil Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) kept his second place in the WSS championship rankings today, despite being unable to finish the 23-lap Eurospeedway Lausitz race.
Pere Riba (GIL Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R) experienced similar problems to his team-mate, severe chatter from the rear, and that negated his push for championship points, as he finished 17th. He also experienced premature rear tyre wear and that also slowed his overall progress.
Despite moving forward at good pace in the early laps, and being as high as 11th from an 18th place start, Foret found problems so severe that he had to pull in on lap 17. The rear tyre moved on the wheel rim, and from that point on he dropped back, eventually coming in to the pits and retiring.
Foret is second on 126 points; Riba is 15th in the rankings, with 37 points.
Fabien Foret: “We suffered a lot from the lack of dry track time and that did not help us on raceday. I moved forward in the race at the start but then, when the rear grip was reduced and the tyre spun on the rim, it became too difficult.”
Pere Riba: “I had a lot of chatter from the rear and my tyre is just finished. It is hard to say if it is simply a problem for our lack of dry track time or the tyre choice we used but it was impossible to make more than we did.”
