The Mobile Clinic, now thirty years old, is making a stop at Italia in Miniatura. Visitors to the park can see it and drop in on  27th, 28th and 29th August and join in fund raising to support the riders’ fabulous “travelling hospital”. The owners of tickets to the Moto GP also enjoy free entrance to  Italia in Miniatura, Oltremare and Aquafan theme parks from Monday 27th to Friday 31st August.

If the collective imagination makes MotoGP’s champions - who flash round the track carrying the dreams of millions of fans – into beings who are half angel and half centaur, there is one man who is able to give them back their wings. That person is Doctor Claudio Costa, who has dedicated most of his life to the rescue and rehabilitation of motorcycle riders.

His Mobile Clinic is a brilliant and extremely advanced unit for diagnostics, traumatology, physiotherapy and emergency surgery that is truly unique. When the riders see him by the side of the track they know that, if there’s an accident, Dr. Costa will be able to combine his medical skill with a superhuman capacity to draw on their own inner resources to beat the pain and rebuild their dreams out of disaster. It’s a kind of “temple” where angels in white coats keep watch over the riders’ safety.  But this is a very expensive business, requiring support and back-up: which is why “Italia in Miniatura” is organising a fund-raiser and charity auction, to coincide with the Mobile Clinic’s visit to the park in 2007, its thirtieth year.

The event can be participated by visitor to Italia in Miniatura or ticket-holders to the Moto GP. One of the main items to be auctioned is the helmet which Loris Capirossi wore in 1998, the year he became world champion in the 250 class.  There will also be some extremely rare “treats” contributed by the Riders’ Fan Clubs and other people who want to keep the Mobile Clinic going. The books of Dr. Costa will also be on sale: from his autobiography “Dottorcosta”, to the latest, “Alex, guarda il cielo” (Alex, Look Up at the Sky”), a testimony co-written with Alex Zanardi, not to be missed: just like the objects and mementos belonging to the many riders, like Mick Doohan,  who owe their career - and often their life as well - to Dr. Costa.

Also, fans will be able to get hold of the first copies of Valentino Rossi’s “Trionfi Rossi” Calendar for 2008. This contains twelve photopaintings, signed by one of the greatest racing photographers in the world: Filippo di Mario, showing his works in the park in this national preview.

Besides, ticket-holders to MotoGP also enjoy free entry from 27th to 31st August to Italia in Miniatura, Oltremare, Aquafan and Imax other theme parks of Riviera di Rimini.

Italia in Miniatura, whose mission is to “inspire us with passion” for the beauty all around us in Italy, invites all bikers and fans to support Dottor Costa  his extraordinary Mobile Clinic by joining in the fund-raiser even by acquiring a single book. People who put passion into everything they do make a difference.  That is why Italia in Miniatura welcomes Doctor Costa and his one-of-a-kind mission.
