Steven Frossard and the team CLS are pleased to confirm that they will continue in 2010 their association in the MX2 class, with the support of the Kawasaki factory.
Actually fifth in the World Championship after eleven of fifteen rounds, Steven will enter his last season in the MX2 class and will battle for the 2010 title.
Involved with the team CLS since three years now, Steven Frossard won this season two heats and confirmed to be one of the main contenders of the class. His legendary determination helped him to improve his results through the years, and in 2010 the Frenchman from Lyon will battle for the title aboard a CLS Kawasaki. ‘Due to the age limit fixed by Youthstream in the MX2 class, 2010 will be my last season in this class and the world title will be my main goal’ explained Steven who signed his contract after the final round of the French Elite series. ‘Several times in my career I fixed one goal for my last attempt in a class and it was successful. Since my first season in the GP’s I’m member of the CLS squad, and each year we made progress together. 2009 was probably harder than expected as we made several mistakes and had some problems, but we all learned a lot and for sure we’ll be better prepared for 2010 and we’ll go for the world title. We have to work on the starts, as it’s now so important to be in the leading group in the first corner; I proved this season that I can win any duel with my rivals, but if you are mid pack at the start then it’s more complicated. We know that we’ll have a stronger support from the factory next season, and that was important to finalize my decision’ continued Steven who will be fully focused on the racing during the last four GP’s.
For Jean Jacques Luisetti the manager of the team, this signature is one important step to prepare next season were the team aims to battle for the title. ‘We knew since a long time that higher are your expectations more difficult it is, and we know what we have to do to be stronger next season. Thanks to the great technical and financial support provided by Kawasaki, we already won some heats this season and next year the title will be our main goal. We’ll be the official MX2 team, with more support, and that’s already a reward for us. Now we put all our energy to be a title contender, and we are working on our organization; our workshop in Marseille has been renewed, our base in Belgium is perfect and we’ll be focused on the MX2 class as requested both by Kawasaki and Youthstream. I’m happy and proud to have Steven with us for another year, in fact we had an option with him but it was important to be sure that he also wanted to continue with us. He is our leader since three years, and we’ll do everything to help him to reach his goal for his last MX2 attempt. We’ll announce within a few days the identity of his team-mate, who will be also a strong rider able to win heats and Grand Prix’ revealed the manager of the French team, who will line-up two strong riders in the MX2 class.
