Strijbos' return put on hold!
Grand Prix Kawasaki Racing’s Kevin Strijbos – who was due to return to MX1 World Championship action this weekend at St Jean D’Angely in France – will miss more of the season than originally expected due to ongoing problems with the thumb injury he picked up in Spain back in April.

After undergoing further surgery with Dr Claes to remove a piece of damaged bone from his injured thumb the 22-year-old Belgian rider is now expected to return to the racetrack in time for the 11th round of the 15-round series at Lommel in Belgium at the very earliest.

“It’s been a tough year for me and I’m disappointed for sure,” said Kevin. “I had surgery last Wednesday and they removed a piece of bone from my thumb. I will now rest for another three or four weeks and then start over again. I’m not sure at which GP I’ll be back racing again - maybe Lommel or maybe Loket.”

Despite missing over two thirds of the championship Kevin still holds down a top-20 position in the series thanks to his solid results at Valkenswaard and Bellpuig.

The rest of the GPKR team – Seb Pourcel, Livia Lancelot and Alexandre Rouis – will be in action at their home GP in France this weekend where Livia Lancelot will be looking to increase her lead in the Women’s World Championship and Sebastien Pourcel will be out to score yet another GP win.
