The Thunder Valley AMA Motocross took place over the weekend. At the high altitude of over 6,000 feet above sea level, fans from all over took part in watching another historic weekend of racing! The weather was hot and very demanding on the riders. On Saturday, practice went okay overall for the Red Bull KTM racers. Our 450 riders, Mike and Jeff Alessi, were 6th and 12th overall, respectively. Mike Alessi came into the weekend feeling strong. He had 6th gate pick for the day and was feeling confident. A dizzy and aching Jeff Alessi earned himself 19th gate pick. Coming off of the gate of the first Motocross moto, Mike was somewhere between 10th and 15th place. Jeff came around in 20th place. Mike moved his way up to fourth quite quickly. Then James Stewart, Davi Millsaps, Andrew Short, and Mike Alessi put on a spectacular show. Millsaps grabbed the win, with Short to follow, and Mike finished third. Unfortunately, Jeff crashed, and he eventually pulled off. He is still suffering from his crash at Unadilla. The 800 of Mike Alessi had a much better jump off of the gate in the second moto. He rounded the first turn in the top five. Mike held onto fourth for the most part of the race. With Millsaps, Stewart, and Short in front of Mike, he had his work cut out for him. Late in the moto, things started to get exciting though! Mike went on to pass both Millsaps and Short. Then, Mike battled with James Stewart for a few laps. He put the pass on him, but couldn't pull it off permanently. Tim Ferry was itching to get by both Alessi and Stewart though. The two lap card came out and Ferry made the pass. Ferry would go on to win, James Stewart in second, and Mike Alessi finished third. Red Bull KTM rider, Mike took second overall for the day, behind a certain number 7. With Jeff's head injury, he decided to sit out the second moto of this weekend.
