On a sunny and sandy but wet track the riders opened the Belgian domestic calendar. Sixth in qualification, Christophe chose to make his race debut with a 450, using a KX450F stock machine just equiped with Ohlins suspensions and a ‘Devil’ pipe.
He grabbed the holeshot in the first race but was promptly passed by Steve Ramon – who went on to dominate the three heats – and Manuel Priem. Third in the first and second races, Cristophe will ended the day with a fifth place in the last moto and the same ranking overall. He will, of course, be back on his KX250F next week in Valkenswaard. Gregory Aranda will also be back in action who couldn’t race in Mons due to an administrative problem.
Roger Pourcel: “For Christophe it was his first race in two months and the first of his career on a 450. He was riding smoothly and safe and didn’t take any risks on this demanding track. It was good practice before Valkenswaard and we were pleased to see that he had no pain to his leg and no physical trouble. He’s ready for the first Grand Prix.”
