KTM racer Sven Breugelmans of the JMRacing Team battled through mud and rain to finish second behind championship leader Christian Beggi in what turned out to be a one-race Round 7 of the MX3 World Championship. Pouring rain already dominated Saturday's training transforming the track unto a quagmire that made it virtually impossible for riders to complete a good lap in free training. Organizers decided to delay qualifying until Sunday but more rain overnight made conditions even more complex. In the end qualifying was scrapped and the results of Saturday's skimpy free practice were used to determine the line-up at the gate on Sunday. Breugelmans benefited from this decision and was allocated first place at the starting gate. Breugelmans battles mud for 22 championship points MX3 riders then spent a valiant 35 minutes battling as much against the mud as each other. Sven's main rival Beggi came off best and finished with a thirteen second lead in front of the second placed Belgian. The two leaders had established a huge gap to the rest of the field and lapped all but third placed Allier and Christophe Salaets at fourth. The second MX3 race was scrapped after just two laps with organizers deciding that racing was impossible. Sven however saw it as a missed opportunity to get his own back on his rival Beggi, who now has a 19 point lead on second placed Breugelmans in the championship standings. "I'm really disappointed that the second race was cancelled. I made a mistake during the first race I made a mistake and saw Beggi slip away but I'm sure I could have reversed the result during the second race. EU MX2 cancelled after eight laps The MX2 event was scrapped after eight laps into the first race, delivering a second place to KTM JMJunior Kenny Vandueren. It was his first podium of the season and elevated him to the European top 10. Regrettably, EU MX2 championship leader and KTM rider, Valentin Teillet, was luckless on Sunday. He crashed and was outside the top 20 when the race was stopped. He still holds a slim 6-point lead in the championship, which he wants to extend at the next round in Bulgaria. Other KTM racers from JM team, Alvaro Lozano and JMJunior Axel Alletru did not ride in Croatia because of injury. Result (one race only) 1. Cristian Beggi, Italy, Honda 2.
