A tenacious home race from Andrea Dovizioso at Mugello
02 giugno 2008  Gianluca Montiron – Director JiR Team Scot “Today’s result allows us to make a step forward in the championship ranking. After good weather on Saturday and today the final result is positive. Andrea and the team used well the technical package at their disposal and we proved that we are competitive. The start of the race was strong for Andrea and although the result could be better, it’s important that we continue to improve and get more points. We go now to Barcelona with the aim to improve our position still further in the championship.” Andrea Dovizioso – Rider JiR Team Scot MotoGP HONDA RC212V 8th: 6th fastest lap: 1’50”.511 “It was a hard race, not just because of the physical strain, but also because the heat here was very high! I started like a sprinter, and I took a lot of positions and I had a good rhythm, but during the last laps the rear grip was getting less and less. Between yesterday and today we tried two kinds of tyres one hard that didn’t give me good grip feeling and one medium that was better but with the possibility of the grip reducing at the end of the race. We considered our start position and chose the second tyre that after a while it started to give less grip. If I didn’t have to go so quick from the start, maybe I would have chosen the first one, however it’s been a good race and I enjoyed very much the fight with Loris and he is a very good competitor. This morning I was not very well because my shoulder was in pain but after visiting the Clinca Mobile afterwards, during the race it felt very good. I’m satisfied about this result but we have to improve. I did a good race and this is important for all the team.” |
