Alex Barros finishes fifth at Phillip Island

16 ottobre 2007

The sixteenth race of the season contested at the Phillip Island circuit was clearly a victory for Ducati, the Factory clearly performing well with a one-two punch of Casey Stoner and Loris Capirossi, first and second respectively.

The Pramac-Dantin Team finished with a commendable fifth place finish thanks to the hard work and perserverance of Alex Barros, who rode strong throughout the race, while team mate Chaz Davies, regrettably had to retire with a technical problem.

Alex Barros (5th position. 41'31,71). "The Team is happy but I'm not because I know that I could have done more. I started the race with a hard tire, because we thought that the medium wouldn't last the entire race, but in the end I think I would have had a better racepace with the medium. Nowadays in MotoGP, if you don't have everything at 100% you are not able to fight with those ahead of you. The next race in Malaysia, I hope to follow this run of form and aim to have a good finish to the season ".

Chaz Davies (Retired/DNF). "I didn't have a good start, but I was able to make up some positions in the early laps and get into a good rhythm. In the fifth lap, I started having problems with the rear and it became difficult to ride the Ducati. Unfortunately, by the 12th lap I started having a technical problem with the bike and was forced to retire. I hope to have better luck in Malaysia".

Luis d'Antin (General Manager). "We have obtained to a good result thanks to Alex Barros and we're happy for that reason, but in Malaysia we hope to improve this position and in this way to be able to finish the season well. Regarding Chaz Davies, his bike had a technical problem and we hope to have more luck in Sepang".
