Yuki Takahashi ninth in the Sachsenring rain

After two days of dry practice, but constantly under the threat of rain, the Sachsenring circuit finally saw the rain arrive on race day. Today Yuki Takahashi improved the front-end feel of his Honda in the morning warm-up, but the rain began to fall shortly before the race, forcing the JiR Team Scot engineers to prepare the bike for a wet race despite having no wet time around the German track. Yuki, starting from the tenth position, attempted a fast blast through the pack, but in the fast corners was soon slowed by a lack of grip at the rear wheel, which then began to slide. The Japanese rider did not surrender and was able to maintain ninth position at the chequered flag.

Cirano Mularoni – Team Manager, Team Scot JiR “The German Grand Prix weekend has not played according to our expectations. We wanted to exploit this opportunity to collect a major result for the standings, but it has not gone well. The team has worked hard, but from the very first laps of the race we saw that Yuki could not express his potential. We had to prepare the setting of the suspension for the wet race without any wet track time, and this could be the cause of the lack of grip to the rear that has affected our race.”

“All weekend I’ve never been able to find the confidence with the front that I wanted to give me a good lap time, but after this morning’s warm-up the situation had improved and I feel we could have had a good race. The rain which began to fall before the race certainly could have helped. My start was not so good, but as always I tried to recover but in the first laps I was slowed by other riders. I had to push more, but by then I felt the grip on the rear wheel was not so good, especially in the fast corners. I tried to give the same gas, but I was scared of falling and losing more points. I thank the team and as always we all gave the very maximum.”

Gianni Berti – Technical Coordinator, JiR Team Scot “Over the weekend it was difficult for us to reach a setting with the bike that was good for our rider, but by the end of practice and warm-up we had found a good solution. Then the rain forced us to change the setting of the bike, but without any wet time on track and now we will try some technical testing to identify the cause of loss of grip at the rear of the bike.”
