Second day testing was characterized by morning showers that allowed riders only a few laps. In the afternoon, the situation improved, but the track was still very wet at various points. Despite the weather, engine and suspension work development continued for both riders Nannelli and Rolfo. Roberto was also able to ride a few laps on the new 2008 Honda CBR 1000 R although still in the standard version.
Gianluca Nannelli – Supersport: This morning I rode very little, but in the afternoon I tried to better my rhythm, and I managed to turn in 1.46.7. I’m still trying to understand the limits of this bike and to check the validity of the work we are doing on suspension and engine. Unfortunately, the track conditions did not allow me to drive, as I wanted with the right trajectories. I hope the weather will be better tomorrow in order to be able continue our test.
Roberto Rolfo – Superbike: The weather today did not help us at all. In the afternoon I was able to ride a few laps and I confirmed yesterday’s best lap of 1.45.4 even if the track was still wet in some curves. Today I also tried the new 2008 CBR 1000 R version for few laps, but tomorrow I still be working with the 2007 bike to further improve the machine’s overall performance. My physical conditions are now good, so tomorrow I’d like to try a race simulation.
Salvatore Giorlandino: Although the weather did not allow us to work as we hoped and wanted but our riders were still aggressive and active on track. Nannelli recorded lower times so this gives us hope for tomorrow’s tests. I saw Gianluca very determined and Roberto’s physical conditions have now improved so I’m convinced that tomorrow, if the track is dry, we can continue our work on the motorcycle set up.
