December 22 Track Day At Infineon Raceway To Benefit Injured Rider

10 dicembre 2007

Mojotown Hosts Track Day Fundraiser at Infineon Raceway Saturday December 22, 2007.

Join your friends and fellow motorcycle enthusiasts for a day of riding at the world famous Infineon Raceway while helping local injured rider Blake Herod and the American Federation of Motorcyclist's Air Fence Fund.

The December 22nd fund-raiser hosted by The Mojotown Project a 501(c)(3) will feature ample track-time over the twisting road course. When not on the track riders and guests can enjoy socializing over a catered lunch, a raffle, and a silent auction just in time for last-minute Christmas gifts. One of the featured raffle items is 1974 Triumph Trophy Trials bike from Blake Herod's personal collection.

The day's proceeds will benefit recently injured San Rafael rider and artist Blake Herod and the AFM Air Fence Fund.

Herod was severely injured several months ago when a car swerved across the double yellow lines into Blake during his weekly motorcycle riding group. The incident occured while riding in west Marin. Herod lost the use of his right arm in the accident and is working to regain some control over his right leg. The incident has left Blake and his family with tremendous new challenges to overcome.

The AFM -- Founded in 1954, is America's oldest organization dedicated solely to motorcycle road racing. Priding itself on safety, The AFM is in need of 600+ feet of Airfence to cover more turns at Infineon Raceway. The fence will be used not only for AFM events, but also nationally held races with the AMA. The total cost is estimated at approximately $80,000 - a large sum of money but well worth the expense in terms of saved lives and safe racing.

"I'm really looking forward to this track day and helping Blake and the AFM out in any way that I can," said Michael Aron. Aron founded The Mojotown Project as the non-profit wing of his Multi Media agency Mojotown to enable him to raise money and awareness for charities and other non-profit agencies in the area.

The cost for the full day of riding is $225, and includes a catered lunch and an event t-shirt.
