Another Record-Breaking Season for Brembo Brakes
If the headline is familiar to you, then you remember last year's press release for the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show. Only the date has changed. Although founded in 1961, Brembo began racing in 1975 when Enzo Ferrari entrusted the Bergamo-based, high-performance brake manufacturer with the task of fitting its most prestigious Formula One car. Since then, Brembo has been at the forefront of the motorsports arena, winning over 150 world championships, a record that is unprecedented in the industry. The reason for the company's success is fairly simple: Brembo's constant innovation involving new technologies, materials and state-of-the-art products results in the most comprehensive line of high-performance Braking systems and components in the world. Brembo's motorsports results are so dominant that most of the 2007 championships are repeats of the 2006 season. When one thinks of Brembo, sports car racing comes to mind immediately and rightfully so. In 2007, Brembo-equipped sports cars won three of the four classes at the classic 24 Hours of Le Mans; the top prototype class in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS); the GT class in Grand-Am's Rolex Sports Car Series, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona; the GT class with Cadillac in the Speed World Challenge; all four classes of the Le Mans Endurance Series and all three classes of the FIA GT Championships. More than half of these championships were repeats of 2006. The more significant sports car victories were the Le Mans wins and Audi's eighth-straight LMP1 crown in the ALMS. Audi was also the winner of the LMP1 class at Le Mans, standing on the top podium seven out of the past eight years (the Bentley-disguised Audi won in 2003). Brembo dominated in GT as well, with victories in GT1 by Aston Martin and by Porsche in GT2. NASCAR also witnessed repeat performances by Brembo in the Nextel Cup with Jimmy Johnson victorious for the second-straight year in his #48 Chevrolet and in the Busch Series with Ford's Carl Edwards scoring his first championship. Ron Hornaday and his Chevrolet rode Brembo discs to victory as well in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Believe it or not, the majority of the NASCAR drivers in all three of these series use Brembo Braking systems and components more often than not to get to victory lane. Brembo's dominance in racing was not reserved for four-wheel vehicles in 2007 as Brembo helped Ducati and Suzuki win every race in their respective series this season as Ducati's Casey Stoner was crowned MotoGP Champion while Suzuki's Ben Spies repeated as AMA Pro Superbike Champion. One of the few "new" champions for 2007 is actually a returning champion of many years. For over 30 years, Ferrari and Brembo have stood on the top rung of the Formula One FIA World Championship. This season it was the Finn Kimi Raikkonen who drove his #6 Ferrari to the Drivers' and Constructors' Championships using the choice of Champions. Racing teams and manufacturers such as Audi, Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz AMG and Lamborghini, who demand the best, turn to the experts in Braking technology and performance: Brembo. The strong support and trusted relationships that Brembo has with more than 31 original equipment manufacturers and hundreds of Championship Winning Race Teams in F1, NASCAR and sports cars, is based on the fact that Brembo is the industry benchmark. There is no other company or product line on the market that can match Brembo's level of technology and performance. Congratulations to all of Brembo's 2007 Champions and Championship teams. |
