WSBK Brands: Nieto in the top ten

03 agosto 2007

A sweet-sour result for the Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team at the end of this first day on the english track of Brands Hatch which is one of the most spectacular and difficult circuits of the championship.

Fonsi Nieto gained the 7th time with a great performance. He found the feeling with his bike right away which gives him the chance to be together with the firsts on Sunday. Regis Laconi didn’t find the same feeling as Fonsi did, and he seamed to be in difficulty both during the free practices and the qualification session reaching just the 13th position. Tomorrow both of them will focus on the Superpole where the two riders of Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team will try to reach the first rows on the start line.

FONSI NIETO: “ For sure this is not a track that fits our bikes and telling the truth I don’t like it so much, this is the reason why I’m quite surprised for this chrono and this position among the first ten. This means that we did a good job but we still have a lot to do and tomorrow we will concentrate on some changements that we have to do in order to improve even more. Let’s say that we are moving on the right way to be able to be competitive on Sunday hoping to be the “day ‘s revelation”.

REGIS LACONI: “ It’s clear that today things didn’t go so well. We tried two different engine’ s configurations without finding the good feeling. Beside I slipped during the free practices this morning making everything even more difficult. Now we have to reset all and start again without thinking to have lost an entire day of work. We will make a choice and we’ll base all the work on that. I like this track and I really want to be ready for the round”.
