Bernd Hiemer fourth in German S1 Supermoto GP for continued improvement
![]() Hiemer's overall result was another improvement on his overall fifth in the last round in Alcarràs, LLeida, Spain, as he continues to improve as the season progresses. "I had a good start in the first race but it was very slippery in the offroad section and I had some bad luck with an overtaking maneuver," Hiemer said of the races at St. Wendel. "I bruised and grazed my hip very badly in the crash and it was difficult to walk but I took some pain killers and was able to continue with the second race." The German rider's toughness paid off. He got away very well again in the second race and immediately settled in to second position, putting paid to the jinx on his starting technique that has bugged him earlier in the season. The offroad track had also dried out. Hiemer found his rhythm and hung on tenaciously to the second position for the duration of the race. "I was unlucky with the overtaking maneuver in race one today, and although things could have gone better in the first race, I know that my lap times are ok and that I am fast enough to win," Hiemer said, exhibiting renewed confidence in his riding going into the remaining races. The combined asphalt and offroad sectors that make up the city circuit in St. Wendel combine to make up one of the most demanding tracks in the championships. It is the second year in succession that Supermoto has been hosted at this location. Results 1. Thierry van der Bosch, France, Aprilia 2. Adrien Chareyre, France, Husqvarna 3. Thomas Chareyre, France, Husqvarna 4. Bernd Hiemer, Germany, KTM 5. Kevin Berthome, France, Honda |
