Despite the unpredictable weather, people came in their masses to Francorchamps so as not to miss the spectacular event offered by this 5^th anniversary Bikers’ Classics. Twelve world champions with a total of 35 titles between them were ready to get down to work for the greater happiness of the spectators who were won over by their availability.

Over the years, whilst the number of stars present never ceases to grow, the quality of the machines brought together gets more and more unanimous praise. Even the most experienced collectors were staring wide-eyed discovering rare pieces displayed for all this weekend. From the extremely rare Moto Guzzi V8 to Daijiro Katoh’s Honda RS, through a replica Carlos Lavado and even the Honda-Rothmans RS V4s, the range offered this year was quite simply sumptuous. The comments were flying around the aisles set up in the paddock: “I’m all for these events”, confirmed this French rider, “But nowhere else would I find such a gathering of unique machines! Back home, we rarely get the opportunity to see the 50cc bikes here, I was very surprised to see so many! I can’t wait for next year!” In fact, with Jan De Vries and Henk Van Kessel at the head of the pack the “hairdryers” drew an incredible amount of interest. That is also the magic of Bikers’ Classics...

The atmosphere peaked on the Saturday evening. After a visit from Florent Pagny, an experienced rider, which drew a lot of interest, the traditional concert started, with the excellent groups Cobra and Road House appearing. The sun, a surprise guest on Sunday, allowed the enthusiasts to admire the parades between visits to a shopping village where a good number of people found something to make them happy.

The 5^th Bikers’ Classics can be considered as a complete success and the whole organising team is now ready to take up a new challenge, to set up the event for the 6^th year that will also go down in history…
