SBK Assen, qualifying: Nieto behind the first riders

28 aprile 2007

Different results for Kawasaki PSG-1 Corse team in the first day of test  on Assen circuit in Holland. Fonsi Nieto revenged the difficulties he had in Valencia reaching the 7th place with just 6 tenth of gap from the temporary pole of Toseland. The Spanish rider found immediately a good feeling with the bike and the tires adopting a set up that allowed him to have a good pace for many laps and to improve it at the end of the session. Some troubles for Regis Laconi that still has some problems with the chattering even if improved compared to Valencia. But he declared to be still trustful because the morning’s free practice session went quite good for him.

FONSI NIETO: “ I can’t say that we solved all the problems we had in Valencia but compared to that situation we improved a lot. We still have a lot of work to do but I’m quite satisfied because I did 27 laps without changing the rear tire and keeping a good pace. The 7th chrono is not bad and I could do better but I did a mistake in a corner that made me loose some time. The important thing is to have been able to find the right direction. Tomorrow we’ll try to improve more and then to make an important result in the Superpole”.

REGIS LACONI: “ This morning I reached good position but this afternoon we took a wrong direction in the set up and the result has been negative. The problem is the chattering that we still haven’t solved even if we tried different solutions. The important thing now is to find the key and work out these problems to be able to loose the gap we have now. Anyway I’m optimist because the set up we had this morning was quite satisfying.”
